About CCAMLR
The Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) was created within the Antarctic Treaty System responsible to ensure that the unique values of the Antarctic marine ecosystem are conserved through ecosystem based management schemes.
The Commission, and several working groups, meet annually to reassess all Antarctic fisheries. They review catch reports, fishing notifications and other information to inform their decision making. The Commission reviews and adopts conservation measures based on advice from the CCAMLR Scientific Committee.
With the addition of China, there are now twenty-five voting member nations and nine non-voting nations. For a list of these nations, click here.
